Damien Wehner

Damien is Fluids Beginner and Advanced surfing coach, Kayak instructor and Mountain bike Guide.
He was born at Batemans Bay, his parents Kel and Helen settled in the Broulee area from Victoria in the early 70’s and bought their 3 kids up as little surf grubs.
Damien grew up around surfing, His Dad being a mad keen surfer/shaper “My youngest memories were playing in the surfboard foam dust and around Dads legs in his surfboard shaping bay, and always at the beach with mum. After being pushed into tiny waves at north Broulee when I was like 5 or 6 years old, there was no hope for me the surfing addiction had started.”
My brother and I learnt to surf with the Macdonald twins and the four of us became so competitive, every day was a like a competition, we traveled away to comps and surfed everywhere up and down the coast. As a result of hard work, years of dedication, talent and luck my older brother Shane, Phil and Anthony all became professional surfers.
“I draw a lot of enthusiasm from what those guys achieved and are still achieving. Coming from a little town down the south coast and sticking it to the world’s best still amazes me”. In Damien’s short amateur career he won many events, along the way four south coast Junior and Open titles.
When Damien finished school he opted to do a Carpentry trade then worked and traveled around the world. Along his travels he’s Surfed all through Indonesia, Hawaii, Europe, Central and South America and New Zealand
In 2002 he traveled to Costa Rica in Central America to work as a surf and land instructor for Costa Rica Outward bound School, this experience was fundamental for opening the door to his own ideas here in Australia. “I wanted to adapt what I’d learnt in Costa into a lifestyle outdoors business here at home”.

In 2004 Fluid Adventures was born firstly as a surf school with the bigger picture being on the outdoor actives the ‘Nature coast’ has to offer. Now Fluid provides Surfing at Broulee, Mountain biking in the Mogo State forest and Kayaking on the Tomaga River as its major sporting activities.

“I love being out in the Mountains, on the river or at the beach coaching and teaching people, best of all is doing it all in my own backyard”.
