| Fluid Camp 2006
Once again we organized the hyperactive, wave crazy Fluid coaching Students for a weekend away. Getting all these kids together and making something happen sometimes takes a monk’s calmness and patients. First the waves were too small at potato point, so we check Yadbra at Dalmeny and found a surprising 2-3 foot peak. It was like see gulls on a chip as 25 grommets attacked the line up. Lunch, check-in and surf at a secret back beach, 3- 4 foot peaks and some barreling lefts, we had scored again! We spent the afternoon surfing that beachie until Ant Macca turned up with 2 cases of red bull then the kids just went hypo, wrestling, jumping off sand dunes and ripping into the waves like bulls possessed. After getting cleaned up we headed to Malibu Mex for the eating competition.
17 number 13’s latter only 3 of us finished, many tried but only the true champions completed the mission. Back to our accommodation and crashed out. Up at day break again for a quick surf out front, then in for a cooked breaky.
We all packed up and headed north to Bar beach where we had the tag team comp, half way through the comp the weather deteriorated until it cleared us off the beach. It was freezing and the surf had totally blown out. So we had lunch and looked for a break out of the wind but our luck had run out.
The weather had forced the completion of the 2nd Fluid camp. So off home we headed.
Big thanks to Pete, Troy, and Tony for the help to control the animals.
Meg and Tess for the food.
Ant Macca and Gonz for the Red bull
Ocean and Earth for the prizes.
Hope to see every one again latter this year.damo.
